Educators rarely have the energy or desire to read the latest books and articles about professional practice because, frankly, reading some researcher’s theories about what’s wrong with schools doesn’t sound productive. The CITE believes teachers are the missing voices in the conversation about what works in the classroom and that more educators need to become involved in research and policymaking.
To that end, The CITE Quarterly will recommend books, articles, videos, and programs that we think educators should at least be aware of and, in a perfect world, conduct a book study with colleagues as part of a professional development plan. The CITE will provide complementary materials, including guided journals and discussion guides, for each of its selections. We’ll also host a Facebook discussion, Google Hangout, and resource page on its website. This will provide all the materials you need for a collaborative project that a Local Professional Development Committee may accept as a way to earn credit. (Results may vary, depending on situation.)
